Discolored nails could be a sign of fungus. Bruising of nails occurs in sports that involve running or stopping quickly. It can also occur if a heavy object drops on the toe.
Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown toenails can be caused by improper trimming, inherited nail deformities, injuries, fungal infections, or pressure.

Prevention and Treatment
To prevent these problems, wear the right shoes, and trim your nails properly. Shoes with the right amount of wiggle room and support and made of natural materials are ideal. It is also best to cut your nails straight across.
We may need to remove one side of your nail back to the cuticle to treat the root of the nail. You may also require antibiotics. Sometimes temporary or permanent removal of the entire nail is needed. If the toenail is thick, we can thin it by filing or grinding. Oral and topical medications are available to treat fungus.
